Personal Injury
Any physical or psychological injury to an individual that results from an accident is a personal injury. The most common types of personal injuries are incurred from traffic accidents, accidents at work, accidents at home, holiday-related accidents, and assaults. A personal injury, whether it is of a physical or psychological nature, is a violation of an individual’s rights.
Legal responsibility or liability in personal injury cases typically arises when an individual or entity is careless or negligent and that negligence is the cause of the personal injury. For personal injuries, the government does not punish the wrongdoer but gives the victim the right to pursue a private, civil lawsuit against the wrongdoer.
